Vastu Shastra, which literally translated means ‘the Science of Buildings’ is an ancient Indian science developed thousands of years ago by ancient Indian sages. Vaastu Shastra, an intangible part of Indian Architecture has its roots extended in Indian Philosophy, maths, geology, geography and religion. It takes into account factors influencing a Site such as topography, roads, surrounding structures, the Sun’s effects, Earth’s magnetic field, Earth’s energy fields, the cardinal directions and Nature’s elements in laying down guidelines for the ‘design of buildings’, so that Man can benefit from the useful and positive effects of these factors and is protected from the harmful and negative effects.
It is therefore, worthwhile to understand these factors, their positive and negative effects on Man and how the positive effects can be used to advantage in the design of his dwelling. All this has been explained under the following headings.
- VASTU FACTORS | FIVE ELEMENTS, PANCHABHUTTAAS
- VASTU FACTORS | SUN AND IT’S EFFECTS
- VASTU FACTORS | EARTH’S MAGNETIC FIELD
- VASTU FACTORS | EIGHT CARDINAL DIRECTIONS
- VASTU FACTORS | EARTH’S ENERGY FIELDS
