A Kitchen is a room or part of a room used for cooking and food preparation. It may also be used for dining and entertaining. A kitchen is typically equipped with a stove, a sink, a refrigerator, kitchen countertop and kitchen cabinets. In addition there may be a microwave oven, a dishwasher and other electric appliances. In the design of the kitchens, the arrangement of the ‘work areas’, the fixtures, the positioning of doors and windows, the materials used for countertops, backsplashes and the types of accessories are important to make it very efficient.
