SCIENTIFIC VASTU | CONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE | An Architect Explains
Once you have finalised the design of your house, the next step is to start the construction of a house. Though your building plan may be good, though you may have a good team of professionals on board, it does not mean that your house construction will be easy.
In my 20 years of architectural practice, I have seen a few instances where home builders have faced difficulties and delays in the completion of their buildings. There are myriad reasons for this. But my advice to you is: follow some of the basic Vastu Shastra guidelines for the construction of a house as they guarantee a hassle-free, smooth build.
WHY IS IT WORTHWHILE TO FOLLOW THE VASTU GUIDELINES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A HOUSE?
As an Architect, though I have been trained in architectural science, I incorporate some Vastu guidelines in my practice and the reason is because I find that Vastu Shastra is a science and every guideline is based on logic and reasoning. So these guidelines have some merit and can be useful to you during the stages of construction.
Listed here under the following headings are the Vastu guidelines to be followed before the start of the construction, during the construction and after completion of the construction:
VASTU GUIDELINES BEFORE THE START OF CONSTRUCTION:-
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Before Construction
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Bhoomi (Vastu) Pooja
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Rituals Before Construction
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Digging A Well
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Building A Storage Shed
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Building Compound Wall
VASTU GUIDELINES DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOUSE :-
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Foundation
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines For A Strong Construction
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | The Main Door
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | Internal Doors And Windows
- Scientific Vastu Guidelines | House Warming Ritual

Hello Sir, we recently purchased a west facing house. West is higher than east. there is a lot open space in east hence we get good morning sunlight. I really like the house but the bedroom is in the north east. I placed my bed towards west. Any remedy for this room. I have two small kids and generally they both sleep in this master bedroom. My hubby sleeps in south room. still want to know some remedies for this north east master bedroom.
thanks
ash
Hi Ashita,
If you like this house so much, why are you looking for problems? Anyhow, as a solution, make the NE room your kids room and the bedroom in the south, your master bedroom. Anyhow, your husband sleeps there. So it should not be big change for you.

Triangle plot is right for vastu.
Hi Ashutosh,
Not ideal as per vastu, as a recgtangular house in it will mean a lot of waste of space all around and you will get small rooms if it is a small plot.

hello sir
I want to know that we have Constructed new house with East facing main door , question is opposite of main door we have a well located , so I want to know whether it’s a good sign not not, give me it advantage and disadvantage
Hi Prashant,
It is generally not advisable to have an obstruction in front of the main door. The movement to and from the main door should be unobstructed. So you can probably cover the well with a concrete cover or a grill at ground level (to prevent anyone from falling in) and remove the walls around it.
